Moon Energy

Published on 14 April 2023 at 13:13

The changing phases of the moon affect more than just the ebb and flow of the tidal waves. While we can only observe the moons changing shapes and illumination with the naked eye, the moon also shifts its energy, directly alters our mood & emotions, and directly affects our physical and mental health.

The moon controls our subconscious emotions over parts of ourselves that we feel are inexpressible, and it pulls at those parts to help us become self-aware and to bring awareness to allow ourselves to recognize our inner needs.

For example, the moon has influence over the tidal waves and can shift their intensity and motion with its energy. Well about 60% of the human body consists of water. Which allows the moon to also influence us, to change the power and action of our emotions, our thoughts, and way of life.

The moon cycle has eight total phases where the moon changes its shape and illumination, but most importantly, it changes the energy that it radiates as well.

With each new phase, there is a different energy that we can harness and use to improve how we live our lives.

Making time for self-care is super important for personal well-being, but adjusting our routines to coincide with the moon's phases can benefit us even more and helps us obtain the self-care we deserve at the right time when we need it.

Creating a habit of following rituals and focusing our practices on specific aspects of ourselves during the different phases can help us harness and enjoy the most of each phases energy.

NEW MOON PHASE: SET INTENTION AND CREATE A VISION BOARD

The new moon phase represents the start of a new cycle. It is a new beginning, a chance to start fresh. You can focus on what inspires you or motivates you to become a better, more grown version of yourself. Once you recognize your needs and wants, you can start setting an intention for the goals you want to achieve during this moon cycle. Ensure that your goals are achievable and that they will bring your happiness. Ideally, you can create a vision board for yourself, planning your actions, areas of improvement, or the changes you will have to make in your lifestyle. If vision boards aren't your thing just journaling your intention, goals and ideas will be enough to get you in the mood for personal growth.

The waxing moon phase occurs in between the New Moon & the Full Moon and is divided into 3 types: The Waxing Crescent, The First Quarter & The Waxing Gibbous. The energy of the waxing moon phase is about manifesting, taking action, drawing things to you, creating, setting intentions & setting goals for yourself while remembering to check in with yourself.

WAXING MOON PHASES: WORKOUT AND CHECK-IN

This phase is the time to work on the goals that you have set for yourself. You know what you want to achieve so go, get it!

Embrace your dreams and indulge in any activity that brings you closer to actualizing your dreams and aspirations. Whether it is physical workouts, taking risks, or becoming more vocal about your passions.

While doing so, remember to check in with your body. See how you are feeling overall and revise your goals as needed.

These check-ins with yourself and your goals will help you follow the right path. If there is ever anything that you do not feel comfortable with, you can drop the objective for the time being and focus on other aspects. But remember stepping out of your comfort zone is how you move forward to reach your goals!

FULL MOON PHASE: CLEANSING

When the full moon shines, it radiates most of its energy—the self-reflective power of the moon points towards what we need to release so that we can move towards what we want to achieve. The energy here is the most powerful of all the phases. It is a time for manifestation, gratitude, magic & healing. Reap the seeds of manifestation that you sewed in the new moon phase. Think back to the intentions that you set, have you seen any signs from the universe? Is your intuition trying to reveal anything to you? The energy of the full moon is intensely powerful. Allow yourself to fully absorb this phases energy and let yourself go with the flow. This is a time for manifesting and following your intuition. Let your intuition guide you to wherever you feel you need to be. Keep an open mind and see things as they are, then look deeper. Is there anything you think you should change? Has there been any obstacles or challenges blocking your path? This is the perfect phase for any divination practices as it heightens your intuition and allows you to feel more connected with what you are doing. This is a good time to manifest and look inward to see where to go next. The full moon is the most powerful phase of the moons cycle so embrace it. Remember this is the time to let go of anything that no longer serves you any purpose, whether it is relationships, careers, or personal habits. By doing so, you will be putting down a burden that was never yours to carry in the first place which will allow you to move forward towards things you deserve. The ideal way to harness the energy in this phase is to cleanse yourself, within and without. Detox your body with good food, water, and natural ingredients. Indulge in a cleansing bath with herbs, salts, and essential oils to remove any stagnant or damaging energy from within. Use crystals, smudge with sage, palo santo or other cleansing herbs. Ensure that during this phase, your body, mind, and spiritual self are in balance and aligned.

The Waning Moon Phase occurs in between the full moon phase & the new moon phase & is divided into 3 types: the Waning Gibbous, the Last Quarter and the Waning Crescent. The energy of the Waning Moon Phase corresponds with release, cleansing, letting go, overcoming obstacles, banishing negativity & restoring your energy.

WANING MOON PHASES: REST, RECHARGE, GRATITUDE

Before the next cycle begins, rest and recharge for what is about to come. Go over your goals achieved and let go of all that was not accomplished. Everything that no longer serves you any purpose, loosen your grasp and release it.

Use this time to indulge in self-care routines: yoga, meditation, massage, walk in nature, read a book. Whatever helps you relax and prepare yourself for the upcoming cycle.

This is also an excellent time to show gratitude to yourself and the Universe for your achievements, big or small, and your ability to do so. Write down what you have learned, what you plan on continuing to practice, and how you will continue to show yourself the love that you rightfully deserve.
